Author at a literary writing desk

About WriteDesk

We exist so authors can write.

WriteDesk was built on a simple observation: the authors who struggle most aren't struggling with their writing — they're struggling with everything around it.

How WriteDesk came to be

Every author we've worked with came to us carrying the same weight. Not writer's block. Not a lack of ideas. But a relentless accumulation of administrative tasks, unanswered inquiries, unread royalty statements, and unmanaged relationships that had quietly taken over their professional lives.

WriteDesk was founded to address that problem directly. We built a service that functions as a genuine back office for authors — one that handles the operational, administrative, and coordination work of a writing career with the same professionalism and attention to detail that an author brings to their craft.

We are not a literary agency. We are not a publisher. We are not a marketing firm. We are the desk behind the author — the administrative and management infrastructure that makes everything else possible.

Our philosophy

The best thing we can do for an author is disappear.

Our goal is not to be visible. It is to handle everything so thoroughly and so quietly that our clients simply stop thinking about it. When WriteDesk is working well, an author's inbox is clear, their books are managed, their opportunities are screened, and their schedule is organised — and none of it required their attention. That is what we consider success.

Precision over volume

We do not take on more clients than we can serve with full attention. Every author we work with receives the same standard of care.

Judgement, not just execution

We don't just process tasks — we apply professional judgement to every decision, so that what reaches our clients is already considered.

Discretion as standard

Authors trust us with their professional lives. We treat that trust as the foundation of everything we do, not as a feature.

Long-term thinking

We manage author careers with a long view — protecting the value of their catalog, their relationships, and their reputation over time.

How we work

A genuine partnership, not a service transaction.

When an author joins WriteDesk, we begin with a thorough onboarding process — understanding their catalog, their goals, their existing relationships, and the specific areas where they need the most support. From there, we build a tailored management approach that reflects their career, not a generic template.

01

Discovery

We learn your catalog, your career, your goals, and where the friction currently lives.

02

Onboarding

We take over the administrative and coordination work systematically, with no disruption to your existing relationships.

03

Ongoing management

We handle the desk work continuously — reporting to you regularly and escalating only what genuinely requires your attention.

04

Strategic review

We meet with you periodically to review your portfolio, assess opportunities, and ensure our work continues to serve your career.

Let's talk about your books.

If you're spending time on tasks that have nothing to do with writing, we should speak.

WriteDesk

Your books. Your business. Our desk.

WriteDesk is the author's back office — the professional desk where administration, coordination, and day-to-day management happen, so you can focus entirely on your craft.
